Introduction to the Book of 2 Samuel - The Backwash of Temptations
Even the man after God’s own heart was tempted. But, if only David had considered the possible fallout BEFORE he chose to yield. When David lost sight of his God-given purpose, he yielded to the temptation of self-driven desires. When he lost sight of his Source of strength, he yielded to the temptation of numbering his own resources. Both choices caused a backwash of untold heartache for both David AND his people. However, God’s goodness and unfailing love never stopped pursuing David, and restoration became the beautiful “backwash” of his repentance.
So, when the heartaches of my own choices taunt me, may I remember—the same God of restoration pursues me!
