“A Change of Clothes”

“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.”

“I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you care about the anguish of my soul.”

Psalm 30:5; 31:7 NLT

“One thing I want is to be close to My Father…then I will hold my head high.” I had just journaled those thoughts when I noticed David’s honesty about his pain—tears blur my eyes, my body and soul are withering away. I’m dying from grief and wasting away from within. (31:9-13)

Walking through the most vulnerable, humanly insecure time of my life, I could relate to David’s feelings. However, it wasn’t those verses I chose to write in my journal that day. Even though my soul was in anguish, I wrote of the One who cares about that anguish!

So, if you happen to be reading this blog through a blur of tears, please know YOUR Father cares about YOUR anguish, too. Be encouraged, David didn’t end his prayer in anguish. He chose instead to make a declaration— “BUT I am trusting you, O LORD…My future is in YOUR hands.” (31:14-15)

When we don’t understand the “why,” we can still trust the “WHO!” Even when we weep through the night, we don’t weep alone. Our Shepherd is right beside us, wiping those tears away so we can see HIM—holding our future in HIS hands.

So, take a closer look at the Shepherd—He’s offering you a change of clothes!

Evidently, He plans to turn your mourning into dancing!

Psalm 30:11
