“This is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid! Do not be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march out against them…
After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor.”
2 Chronicles 20:15-16, 21 NLT
I have the habit of crying out to God about impossible situations. However, many times over the years, after weeping, interceding, and quoting scriptures to God, I would walk away with drooping shoulders and a heavy heart. Then one day I heard the Holy Spirit whisper. “THAT doesn’t look like faith!”
The people of Judah cried out to God about the impossible, but they walked away differently. Instead of drooping shoulders, they marched out to face the enemy with their heads held high. Instead of heavy hearts, they sang praises to the LORD, the One Who would give them victory. The people of Judah marched and sang by faith because they remembered to WHOM they had just prayed. They remembered WHO had always been faithful. They remembered WHO God is!
My many years of tears were because I forget WHO I trusted. No wonder my shoulders drooped—I was looking down at the problem rather than up at the Answer!
When I was young, we used to sing, “Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King.” But why wait until He comes in the clouds? I can see the King every day in HIs Word.! I just need to remember what He looks like all day long!
When I remember WHO is King,
I too will march out and sing—by faith!
