“'...So take this seriously. The LORD has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work.' Then David gave Solomon the plans for the Temple and its surroundings… ‘Every part of this plan,’ David told Solomon, ‘was given to me in writing from the hand of the LORD.’”
1 Chronicles 28:10
There is no greater honor than to be chosen by God. In fact, such news was so important that even in his old age, David stood to his feet as he announced to Solomon, “Take this seriously. The LORD has chosen you…” Indeed, to be chosen for the task of building a Temple FOR God was an incredible privilege; yet greater still was to be chosen for relationship WITH God.
I’m so thankful that in God’s plan, relationship comes BEFORE task. Solomon was young and inexperienced when he was chosen for the task of building the Temple. However, GOD had chosen him for relationship before he was born! Through relationship, Solomon received abundant resources to fulfill the task, plus detailed building plans personally written by God—plans for the structure, plans for the furniture, and plans for the priests. Neither Solomon’s age nor ability could stop the relationship WITH God or the task FOR God.
So, when you are chosen for a task beyond your ability, remember you were first chosen for relationship. David’s final words to Solomon declare the POWER of that RELATIONSHIP…
“Be strong and courageous and do the work.
Don’t be afraid or discouraged for the LORD is with you.
HE will not fail you or forsake YOU.
HE will see to it that all the work…is finished correctly.”
1 Chronicles 28:20
