“The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made.
One day he asked the woman, ‘Did God really say you must not eat the fruit
from any of the trees in the garden?’”
Genesis 3:1
Doubt…the very first tactic of the enemy, “Did God really say…? How many times have you heard that same voice in your head that Eve heard from the serpent? Did God really say He’s able to do that? Did God really set you free? Will God really supply all your needs?
When Eve doubted what God had told her, she ended up making a choice that ultimately affected the whole human race. Even today, doubt can cause us to reason away God’s promises, only to discover all we have left is fear.
Why do we doubt what God says? Perhaps it’s because we do not know God enough to trust Him. Knowledge builds trust and trust dispels doubt. Our loving Creator designed us for relationship, to know and to trust Him.
The Bible doesn’t say how many days or years God had been coming to the Garden to walk with Adam and Eve. But we do know that even after they doubted what He had told them, God still came back, looking for them, “Adam, where are you?”
No matter how many times doubt keeps you from trusting God’s Word,
doubt will never keep God from pursuing you!
