“Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison…
Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt’...
He was thirty years old when he began serving in the court of Pharaoh.”
Genesis 41:14, 41, 46
Joseph was seventeen years old when God gave him dreams, but the journey to their fulfillment was extremely difficult and long. When Joseph was put in command of all Egypt at the age of thirty, those dreams were still not fulfilled, even though at that point he had waited thirteen years.
Many of those long-drawn-out years were spent in prison. At age twenty-eight, an opportunity for his release came through the king’s cup bearer, but sadly Joseph was forgotten. Two more years went by before the day came when Pharaoh at once summoned him out of prison. Within moments, Joseph’s position changed from prisoner to commander of all Egypt!
Joseph could not have understood the long-range significance of that day, but GOD had just moved him from the prison to the palace, where his dreams would eventually come true. Nine years later, when Joseph’s brothers arrived in Egypt to buy food, they came to THAT palace and bowed before THAT commander, their very own brother. Those dreams God gave a teenage boy were finally fulfilled, twenty-two years later.
Never give up hope…when the right time comes, it will only take God a moment to move you from what may feel like a prison to what will look like a palace, as HIS dreams for you finally come true!
