“The Ark of the Lord remained there in Obed-edom’s house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and his entire household...and everything he had because of the Ark of God.’”
2 Samuel 6:11-12
The Ark ended up in Obed-edom’s house because disaster had struck when David and his troops tried to move it on a cart. Of course, the king’s desire was good—to have God’s presence at the center of Israelite life. However, David’s method was not God’s way.
So, for three months, the Ark rested with a family, and the result was the Lord blessed Obed-edom, his entire household, and everything he owned. Not only was that family blessed for three months, but even their descendants were blessed to continue serving as worshippers in the Tabernacle. What a testimony to the power of housing GOD’s presence—both now and for generations to come!
Can you imagine what it was like for that family to wake up every morning and see the Ark right there in THEIR house? Can you imagine the awe of feeling HIS power, HIS peace, and HIS inevitable joy? What worship must have filled that home twenty-four seven!
That life may seem like a dream, and yet with one simple request, I can experience the same miracles. From the moment of my Father’s cleansing, I become HIS temple where HIS powerful presence dwells! Amazing—a privilege beyond my imagination!
Obed-edom’s testimony is mine:
“The Lord blesses me, my household, and everything I own because I house HIS Presence!”
