“And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there’…When they saw him, they worshiped him…”
Matthew 28:9-10, 17
The women were on their way to tell the disciples Jesus had risen from the dead when they SAW Jesus. Their immediate response was to fall at His feet, and worship. The disciples who went to Galilee to meet Jesus had the same reaction—when they SAW Him, they worshiped Him.
Both the women and the disciples had just witnessed the cruelest and most unjustified death of Someone they loved and trusted. Jesus had said He would never forsake them, but where was He now? And what about His other promises? Now He was dead! However, when they SAW Jesus, their hope was restored. No wonder they worshiped!
I’m sure many people around me feel that same hopelessness. Perhaps they’ve experienced the death of someone they loved or death of a cherished dream. Perhaps someone they trusted walked out of their life, or maybe every promise they’ve heard has been broken. They need to SEE Jesus!
But how will people SEE Jesus if I don’t SHOW Him? And how can I show HIM, if I’m too busy showing myself? Besides, what kind of Jesus will my neighbors SEE if all I do is complain about every situation and judge every person?
My job is to SHOW people what JESUS is like!
If only they could SEE Him, they too would worship!
