“When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ ‘Lord,’ they said, ‘we want to see!’ Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.”
Matthew 20:32-34
The blind men had shouted, “Lord…have mercy on us!” And when the crowd told them to be quiet, they only shouted louder.
In 1997 I'd been shouting for months, but the crowds in my mind kept yelling, “Be quiet!” However, after reading this story on August 1st, I decided to shout even louder and answer Jesus’ question: “I want to be set free from my fears!”
And just like this story, Jesus heard my cry, He stopped, and He listened to my desperate plea. Three days later He orchestrated a decision that began miracles of change which continue to this day!
But interestingly, my August 2010 journal again noted this same story! That year I’d been shouting, “Help! I don’t know how to walk this new way!” Like before, Jesus stopped and listened, but that time HE taught me a life-changing lesson: Walking is not an instant miracle. BUT walking becomes a daily miracle when “shouting” becomes a daily habit!
Of course, Jesus already knows our needs and feels our pain. But shouts from the depths of our souls prove we believe HE will act! When He hears one person cry out in faith, Jesus stops and listens, and His touch becomes personal.
So, keep “shouting” by faith!
Jesus will touch YOUR life where YOU need Him most!
