“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God and I trust Him.”
Psalm 91:1-2
Moses learned to know the God of many Names in the desert! Evidently, the Most High had been his shelter, his refuge, and his place of safety during the dark nights. Evidently, Moses rested in Almighty’s shadow during the heat of the day. And evidently, the more Moses experienced God’s faithfulness, the more he trusted the LORD.
That intimacy with God gave Moses a powerful testimony: “This I declare about the LORD: He alone is MY refuge, MY place of safety; he is MY God and I trust him.” Because Moses knew God personally, he was sure HIS God could do anything! The bold declarations he penned encourage us even today: He WILL rescue you, protect you, cover you, and shelter you. So, don’t be afraid of terrors at night or arrows by day—don’t dread diseases lurking in your body or disasters blaring in the news! (v 2-6)
Moses TRUSTED the God he got to know in the desert, and he urges us to do the same. Your desert may look different than his, but the same God is with you, demonstrating His love IN your most difficult season. If you TRUST HIM in your desert, He WILL take care of you! (v. 9-13)
Moses knew that whatever GOD says, will be so—because HE is GOD!
GOD said He will rescue those who love Him—so HE WILL!
GOD said He will protect those who trust Him—so HE WILL!
GOD said He will be with us IN trouble—so HE WILL!
Moses TRUSTED God because he KNEW God!
How ‘bout you?
