“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so not I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”
Matthew 25:14-30 (From Jesus’ Parable of Three Servants)
Like the servants in this parable, the Master of my heart has also entrusted HIS wealth to me, not treasures of this world, but treasures of the heart. Daily He entrusts gems of Truth, secrets of Life, fruit of His Spirit, and the freedom to enjoy them all! He expects me to invest those treasures, not hide them!
I especially notice the master’s responses to the three servants’ actions: The one who was afraid and hid his master’s wealth was thrown into darkness where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth. What a reminder to me: It’s serious business when I hide my Master’s riches instead of investing them in other people. The darkness surrounding me would come from my own blindness to people’s needs and the weeping that would torment me would come from people who never got a taste of my Master’s riches—all because I hid them!
On the other hand, Jesus gave us a beautiful picture of His delight in the those who invest HIS wealth. First, He gave those two servants a title: good and faithful. Next, He gave them more wealth to invest. But, most beautiful, He then gave them a personal invitation: Let’s celebrate TOGETHER!
Relationship is always most important to Jesus—
When we invest for Him, He invites us to CELEBRATE with Him!
