“You must not plant any other crop between the rows of your vineyard.
If you do, you are forbidden to use either the grapes from the vineyard or the other crop.”
Deuteronomy 22:9
After living one month in Moldova, this obscure sentence caught my attention: “You must not plant any other crop between the rows of your vineyard.” Does that mean plants from different types of seeds could spoil the intended harvest?
Ron and I moved to Moldova to plant seeds of trust for HIS vineyard. However, just setting up our home overwhelmed me! Spending days to find one household item seemed like such a waste of precious vineyard time that I cried, “But, I came here to raise beautiful grapes!”
At the time I read this verse, my heart was anxious and my body weary, but I began to understand my problem: I had planted different seeds between the rows! We planted seeds of trust for the grape harvest. However, in between, while we waited for that harvest, my “just get this done and I can do this” attitudes dropped seeds of pride between the rows of trust.
I learned a valuable lesson: Plant only the kind of seeds you want to harvest! Because the sprouts growing between my rows were certainly not peace, joy, or strength that God intended for the whole vineyard. That kind of harvest only comes from seeds of trust!
Our Father cares for both His harvest and our lives in between…
Only HE can help us plant seeds of trust in both!
