“But the Lord sent terrible plagues upon Pharaoh and his household
because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.”
Genesis 12:17
When famine forced Abram to move to Egypt, he was afraid the Egyptians would kill him in order to get his beautiful wife. To protect his own skin, Abram asked Sarai to lie. As a result, she was taken into the dangers of Pharaoh’s palace, while Abram remained safely in his tent.
Abram’s fear-filled choice could have clothed Sarai with the shame of sexual abuse, but GOD stepped in! HE sent terrible plagues to Pharaoh’s household because of Abram’s wife. In Genesis 20 Abram lied again, and Sarah found herself in the arms of King Abimelech. Both times God Himself spread an umbrella of protection over Sarai, because He knew the plans He had for her. God had already selected Sarai to be the mother of nations, so most certainly, He would protect His chosen one.
Sarah’s God is still looking out for the men and women He has chosen. You need not worry about protecting your own skin. The same God who preserved Sarai for His miracle, will do the same for you. No human can destroy the plans HE has designed for you! You can trust GOD to spread His umbrella of protection over you, because YOU are also chosen for His purpose!
