“Rescued…Again!”

“They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.”

2 Samuel 22:19-20

The Lord rescued David from the sword of an enemy who wanted him dead. In 2002, I faced a different kind of sword. While on a doctor-ordered sabbatical, God surprised this non-stop workaholic with daily lessons about rest and trust. After hours of digesting HIS Truth, I was determined to live free of my do it all nature.

However, after only a few short weeks back home, I tried to get permission to organize a certain ministry in the church for which I wanted to do the training. I pushed hard to get my way; that is, until I heard God’s gentle whisper, “I told you to trust Me. Listen to your husband. I have made him your protection.”

Outwardly, I stopped pushing: “Ok Ron, I will be quiet about this issue, but my mind is still racing with ideas and plans!” I was not aware of danger, but there was a sword trying to take my life from the inside. Thankfully, my Loving Shepherd stepped in and rescued me from myself!

And that was not the last time! Like David, again and again God rescues me just in time. Whether the enemy attacks from the outside or from the inside, the reason for His rescue is even more precious than the rescue itself:

The Lord rescues me—because He delights in me!
