“The men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, mother,
brothers, and all the other relatives who were with her. They moved her
whole family to a safe place near the camp of Israel.”
Joshua 6:23
A few weeks earlier, Rahab who hid the two spies had declared, “…the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.” She boldly stated her faith, “I know the Lord has given you this land.” (Joshua 2:9, 11)
Because of Rahab’s faith, she and her family were saved the day the walls of Jericho fell. In fact, they were all moved to a safe place, to live among the family of God’s people. (6:25)
How many in our world today are looking for a safe place? There is only one, and Rahab found it when she believed. She not only declared her faith in the one true God, but she acted in faith when she moved her family inside her house according to the spies’ instructions. Rahab believed and obeyed the promises she had been given.
So, if anyone is looking for a safe place, you will find it the same way Rahab did…by believing in the God who is at work all around you and by acting on His Promises. Our Father God gathers those who trust and obey into the safe place of HIS love. There, like Rahab, you will enjoy life together with God and His people.
“I trust in the Lord…You have…set me in a safe place.”
Psalm 31:6, 8
