“After Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it, he went up to the LORD’s Temple and spread it out before the LORD.”
2 Kings 19:14 NLT
Fortunately, King Hezekiah knew where to go when threatened. Just like before, he went straight to the Temple; but this time he took the threatening letter with him and spread it out before the LORD.
We all face treats every day of our lives. Some may come from people’s words or situations out of our control—some from doubts and fears—some from our own failures screaming inside. We often choose to simply hide our stuff so others can’t see. Other times we spread it to friends and family or even spread it out across the internet. But why not follow Hezekiah’s example—he spread his stuff out before the LORD and was rescued that very night! (v. 35)
Notice Hezekiah’s prayer when he spread out those threats. “Oh LORD, YOU are enthroned…YOU alone are God of all…YOU alone created the heavens and earth.” (v. 15) Hezekiah didn’t focus on his stuff—look what they’re doing to poor ME. Instead, he realized GOD was above ALL his stuff!
If I focus on that same GOD, neither will I fear stuff from anyone. Whether threats come from the outside or scream within my own head, I will not hide them. I know where to spread my stuff out…
Before the LORD—He ALONE can turn my stuff into miracles!
