“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions.’”
Numbers 28:1-2
I wonder if the question often heard in my home, is ever heard in heaven… “What’s for dinner?” Since God said the offerings people bring Him are His food, does He get enough to eat, or is there starvation in heaven?
I notice God gave appointed times for His food…every morning and evening, plus special gifts every week, every month, every harvest, and every year. If the people followed His menu, God knew exactly what would be for dinner!
It may sound like God’s instructions are selfish, but quite the opposite is true. To God, everything is about relationship, including offerings. God knew if people gave special gifts regularly, it would keep their focus on Him and ensure their relationship would remain strong.
Likewise, my loving Father knows that when I obey His instructions, in reality I am feeding myself! As I give my life daily to God as a living sacrifice...my time, my talents, and the harvest that comes from each...not only will I enjoy every blessing on God’s relationship menu, but there will be extra food to share with others!
Jesus said, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God.” So, as we all do what pleases the Father, there will be no starvation in our lives, or in heaven!
