“A man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. ‘Lord,’ the man said, ‘if you are willing, you can heal me…’ Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared…
Matthew 8:3 NLT
The leper had not been touched by human hands since the day ugly, devouring sores erupted through his skin. Because his wounds were not understood, people fearfully pushed him out of their lives. Likewise, the woman with the blood issue had not been touched in twelve years. Her pain was not visible, yet it caused isolation.
Isn’t it sad that the people who need love and care the most end up becoming untouchable outcasts? You may be one of those people with wounds visible for all to see. Even though you’ve repented of your choices, those scars keep staring at you. And even more hurtful, people who don’t understand your sores fearfully push you out of their lives.
On the other hand, the wounds you carry may be from someone else’s choices. Your scars are invisible, the secret pain nobody knows about. And yet, you fear what people would think if they knew about those scars, so you stick an untouchable label on yourself and go on living in isolation.
GOOD NEWS! Jesus is not afraid to touch untouchables! When the man with visible wounds asked for healing, Jesus reached out and touched him! When the woman with invisible wounds reached out to touch Jesus, He stopped, just for her. Both untouchables were healed by Jesus’ touch!
So reach out! To Jesus, nobody is untouchable!
