“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear…
The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us...
Be still and know that I am God!”
Psalm 46:1-2, 7, 10 NLT
I needed refuge and strength more than ever, but on January 25, 2010, I was encouraged more by the Name of the One who gives it—the LORD of Heaven’s Armies!
Being the proud mother of a Master Diver/Master Chief in the US Navy, I knew about military ranks and the power each position held. So, I understood “LORD” would designate a Person with rank over all others—the SUPREME commander.
Second, this LORD had authority over the armies of Heaven, and surely the armies of HEAVEN would rank above all other armies. Therefore, even to this day, I’m in awe of this incredible fact— “The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is HERE among us!”
No wonder the psalmist said, “Come and see the glorious works of the LORD…Be still and know that I am God!” The LORD is working all around me—do I even see Him? The LORD is speaking—am I still enough to hear Him?
Even when He leads me on a path I did not choose, I can trust the LORD of Heavens Armies knows what I don’t know! Besides this LORD is also my loving Shepherd. He not only has the highest warfare rank in the universe, but HE willingly laid down His life for me!
Surely, I can trust that kind of LORD!
