“So the Lord God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep.
He took one of Adam’s ribs and…
The Lord God made a woman from the rib and brought her to Adam.”
Genesis 2:21
What intrigues me most about this miracle is WHEN God did it—while Adam was sleeping. In that state, Adam could not stress, he could not tell God how to do it, and neither could he complain that the job was taking too long. Adam was asleep, and who put him to sleep? God!
God had an amazing surprise planned for Adam, but first he had to rest. When Adam woke up, there was Eve, standing before him with the ability to birth even more miracles! The mother of all humanity had been formed from Adam’s rib while he was sleeping!
I wonder how often God waits to perform miracles in our lives, because we are too busy worrying or trying to make it happen ourselves. God wants us to rest and trust HIM. In fact, at times He may need to put us to sleep so He can do His work!
I also wonder about the miracles I pray will happen in other people’s lives. Sometimes I’ve even asked God to wake them up. But perhaps I simply need to trust that HE is working miracles IN them, even while they are sleeping!
So, here’s my conclusion:
You can trust God all the time—
HE never sleeps, but He’s faithfully performing miracles while YOU are sleeping!
