“As you go into the city,” he told them, “you will see a certain man. Tell him, ‘The Teacher says My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.’”
Matthew 26:18
“Go into the village over there,” he said. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey tied there with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me.” Matthew 21:2
Jesus’ instructions remind me of what I used to tell my kids if they were facing a difficult situation. To assure them everything would be alright, I’d tell them about my own similar experiences. But then, I’d usually add, “So, just wait…you will see.”
I only had experience to back my words—but Our Father has all knowledge of the future plus all power to make it happen! We can trust His directions! In fact, Luke’s gospel tells us the disciples found the donkeys tied just as Jesus had said. And they found a large room already set up for the Passover…just as Jesus had said!
When Our Shepherd directs our steps, we can be sure He knows where the tables have already been set, and where the donkeys are tied. So why do we try so hard to figure out the entire journey before we take a single step? We cannot see around the next corner, but we can trust the One who does!
Don’t be afraid to follow HIS instructions:
“Start that job…You will see…”
“Take that class…You will see…”
“Visit that neighbor…You will see…”
Whatever the instruction, Your Father’s provision will be waiting, more than you can imagination.
Step out and obey—
You will see…just as He said!
